Mission: The North Durham Social
Development Council addresses the social needs of the residents of
Brock, Scugog and Uxbridge by facilitating a response.
Vision: The vision of the NDSDC is to be an organization that
increases the awareness of available services to residents in North
Durham by networking and collaborating with service providers and
establishing partnerships and sharing of resources.
History: North Durham Social Development Council has been
very active since 1990. In the fall of 1990 and spring of 1991,
staff from Durham Family Service and Probation Parole created the
first bylaws and Constitution.
That effort was joined by a local MPP, Larry O’Connor to create a
directory of Human Services in a joint effort to provide a listing
of all current service providers.
Since that time, the NDSDC has continued to provide networking and
educational opportunities to service providers and community members
of North Durham.
This website is our newest project to facilitate networking and
awareness in North Durham and was funded by a grant from South Lake
Community Futures Development Corporation.
