The 12 member board is made up of 11 members of the North Durham Social Development Council elected at the annual general meeting plus the immediate past president.

The current board includes staff from Durham College , Region of Durham Social Services , Region Of Durham Health Department and community citizens. Past board members have been from Distress Centre Durham, Community Care, Pinewood Centre, Handi Transit among others.

The NDSDC Executive meets 8 – 10 times per year. Often subcommittees have been struck to work together on ventures that required some focused efforts to achieve solutions. Homelessness and Mental Health are a few that remain currently active. Transportation has been likely the longest focused area of discussion by the NDSDC.

How You Can Become a Board Member . . .

• Are there North Durham service issues you would like to see addressed?
• Do you have some ideas and enthusiasm for taking on challenges?
• Will your agency support your involvement? (meetings are during work hours)
• Can you commit to a 3 year term? And one Friday afternoon meeting per month?
• Do you support the Mission Statement?
